Personality
Given her bright, chestnut coloring and her love for running around, Wonder often gets dotingly named the fireball. She loves nothing more than to be out there, moving, feeling the turf under her hooves and the wind in her mane. It doesn't matter to her if she'd in a race, or just running around the pasture, as long as she is running she is happy. It is possible that this is linked to the feeling of freedom that galloping can produce. Much to her disdain, however, most other horses will tire of the game before she does. On top of her well known love of running, Wonder has a bit of a reputation as a trouble maker.
Wherever she is you can guarantee that trouble is not far behind and to see the proud look on her face when she's done something she knows she shouldn't can be somewhat amusing. However, it is a good idea not to leave bottles anywhere near her - especially without their lids on! She will also grab hold of things she thinks you will need and run away trying to start a game of chase so really, leaving anything lying around might be foolish. The way to Wonder's heart is through time, games, and most importantly - sugar cubes!
Wonder is a feisty little creature on the track. Spurred on by the presence of other horses, and the fact she will actually be running, this competitive filly will not give in to anyone. She can be a bit of a pain to gate, as she is usually so excited about being at the track she will approach the gates too quickly and have to be walked around.
Once she is in the gates, however, things become more easy. She is focused, alert, and generally doing something she enjoys. The second the gates open she breaks quickly and she will place herself firmly at the front of the pack. However, in a race with too many front runners she will listen to her jockey and not fight too hard for the lead, in order to reserve her energy. In the typical race, she will hold the lead throughout. Her pace will vary according to what her jockey instructs her and she will listen well to commands. As long as she isn't asked to stop running she tends to be ok and hugely responsive. In the stretch, Wonder will give the final battle her all. With a high competitive level and the sheer enjoyment of what she is doing, her heart and spirit will really show through in the occasion she is in a head-on-head battle in the final few furlongs.
