Personality
For some reason the Strike The Win line possesses a slight streak of wild. Combining that streak with the mean streak of Touch Up and you're looking at a pretty devilish horse. Add in a lack of handling over the course of the very important weanling year and you've got yourself a bit of a wild child. Awestruck was not easy to catch out in the paddock that first time, full of fight and angst for the human being that came to catch her. She ran up and down the muddy pasture for an hour before being trapped between a rocky shelf. Once caught the lean bay filly nearly tore up the van on the way over. A mile out from Witch Creek, Mal called an audible and personally escorted the filly to the stables. Such was the introduction of Awestruck into Witch Creek life. The filly is nearly unmanageable, hates being tacked up and loathes being stalled. This is the one filly that has to be kept outside 24/7 or she loses her mind. She is kept in a small paddock of her own with a run-in shed built for comfort in the coldest months. Any feelings of entrapment turn the filly into a wild one. She'll slam against the sides of the paddocks, break cross-ties and endanger the humans around her. One might able to see the problem for True as a racehorse. Luckily, Mal has worked out the kinks with a head blanket and quarter blanket to keep the filly comfortable in the gating process. As long as she does not feel the sides closing in on her, True is fine.
The moment the gates break open, the blankets lift and True is set free. It is only at the last minute that True realizes she is trapped, luckily, she faces the only exit. The bay filly will take off, head and tail high to nearly the front of the pack for the first quarter mile of the race, expelling all of her nervous energy. She'll finally settle down and allow herself to be caught, dropping back to third or fourth and cruise along. She is a filly with stamina in spades and she runs with all of the confidence in the world. True will follow the front runners up until turn when she will swoop to the front of the pack and challenge for the lead. True is a bitter fighter and rival and once she has the lead it takes the jaws of life to take it from her. However, the others have to catch her first before they go through that particular war. Once True hits the front, she'll put daylight between herself and the pursuers, daring them to sprout wings if they want to catch her.
