Personality
Sally acts like a veteran. Even though she's young, she seems to know what's expected of her, and she executes it perfectly. You could call this filly a perfectionist. She doesn't take after her parents at all, which we thought she would since both of them are wild and unpredictable. This filly has the brain of a retired Thoroughbred, which can be both good and bad. Good, because she knows how to handle herself in sticky situations, and bad because she can sometimes push herself too far over the edge. Sally absolutely hates the girth being done up, and she often nips at you when you tighten the girth. You would think being a level-headed filly she normally cooperates, but Sally is really fidgety sometimes, and paces around and paws when tied or even if she's standing still. She's very spooky when it comes to loud sounds, so she wears earplugs around the track and whenever there is construction or trucks around the farm. Sally's an easy horse to get along with, she loves everyone, and everyone loves her.
Sally is one of our only runners that has a 'versatile' running position. This means that she has to be quick-thinking, clever, and on the ball at all times to get where she wants to be. We are lucky that she has all of these traits to be able to pull off wins in races, both big and small, because she is so clever. Both Sally and her jockey work together in unison to determine where the best position to stay in will be. If the pace is slow, Sally takes it to herself to stay in the front of the field, cruising along and keeping the pace slow so that she can use it to her advantage come the end of the race. If there are high-paced front runners, Sally will stick to the middle, or even the back of the field where she will keep a close eye on the pace, knowing that some front-runners will burn out too fast if the pace is too quick.
